The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a disaster. Critics and fans were divided, and after spending a huge amount on production and marketing, Sony Pictures barely broke even. It’s no wonder then that they decided to turn to Marvel Studios for help, and one historic deal later, Peter Parker is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige has creative control.
Tom Holland made his first appearance as the iconic superhero in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year, and he’ll next be seen in 2017 reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming. As with every Marvel movie, much of it is shrouded in secrecy, but we’ve scoured the web (pun most definitely intended) for every bit of information you need to know about what to expect.
Being in the MCU is definitely a homecoming for this character, and while it’s still early days, the future is finally looking bright for the character after three unsatisfying movies in a row. With Marvel Studios overseeing this reboot and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach nowhere to be seen, this could be the spectacular Spider-Man movie we’ve been waiting for…
10. Don’t Expect A Crossover With Daredevil
When it was revealed that Spider-Man had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans instantly started imagining a meeting between the wall-crawler and Daredevil.
Unfortunately, based on comments from Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers, it doesn’t seem as if we should expect any of the Netlfix Defenders to meet up with The Avengers (scheduling issues have been blamed for that), and that quickly puts an end to a recent rumour that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk will make an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The Kingpin may have started off as a Spidey villain, but the actor himself took to Twitter recently to confirm that he won’t be showing up there, so this is one crossover we can forget about.
