Diablo 3, Blizzard’s latest masterpiece, has been doing a number on all sorts of PC sales records.  So with that being said, I think it’s time for a list (crazy montage music ensues, but in list form).

Records that Diablo 3 set

  • In the first 24 hours Diablo 3 sold an astounding 3.5 million copies, making it the fastest selling PC game of ALL TIME
  • 1.2 Million People participated in the World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion, in doing so they received a copy of Diablo 3, so what does that mean?
  • Collectively 4.7 million were ready to play Diablo 3 on launch day, but we all know how that went (sorry, had to drop an Error 37 joke)
  • Since launch 39% of gamers that attend Korean Game rooms have been playing Diablo 3, making it the most popular game in the land of Blizzard

When it’s all said and done more than 6.3 million people are currently enjoying their time in Sanctuary with many more to come I’m sure.  Blizzard’s CEO, Mike Morhaime, was apologetic about the server issues and has this to say to Diablo’s adoring fans:

“We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support.”

Diablo 3 will continue to reign supreme and keep its millions of players enamored for the next decade, but until then keep your eyes peeled for more Diablo 3 news here at HeyUGuys Gaming.
