Creed hasn’t been released in the UK just yet, but the movie has been a huge hit in the states with a haul of over $100 million, hence why MGM are already talking about a sequel.

While no firm plans are in place just yet, it sounds like at least a couple of different directions are being considered. For starters, one idea Sylvester Stallone has had would be to bring back Carl Weathers to play Apollo Creed, with the sequel actually being set partially in the past (CGI would presumably be used to make both actors look younger for these scenes).

Michael B. Jordan has admitted that he hopes to reprise he role of Apollo’s son in the sequel, while director Ryan Coogler – who may next take the helm of Marvel’s Black Panther – seemed to just laugh off Sly’s claims. The actor also suggested having Adonis take on a new opponent, with some pretty obvious parallels to the previous instalments of Rocky.

“You’ll have him face a different opponent, which I would say is a more ferocious, big Russian,” Stallone said of possible Creed 2 plans. “You can start to meld my experiences and then you start to bring different cultures into it. And you can see what’s happening with the Russians today in America. The complication will come with the girl’s ambition, because she’s not Adrian. She has places to go, things to see, the clock is running on her hearing.”

Er, ok then! While none of that sounds too realistic, the actor is at least seeing sense when it comes to the possibility or reprising the role of Rambo. “The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’ It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else. There’s nothing left. When they asked me to do another ‘Rambo,’ I said, ‘If I can’t do better than I did last time, and I can’t, then why?” That’s a very good point!

Of course, a Rambo TV series is currently in the works, and the franchise is being rebooted without him, so the property is far from dead. What’s next for Creed remains to be seen!
