During the Marvel panel at Comic-Con yesterday, Joss Whedon unveiled the official logo for The Avengers, a film about a team of Marvel superheroes who band together to take on some of the greatest evils the earth has ever seen.

While the other day brought the official confirmation that Joss Whedon would be directing the feature, yesterday’s panel was a chance for Marvel to introduce the full cast to die-hard comic-book fans, in the hope of winning over their support.

Confirmed to appear in the film are: Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L Jackon as Nick Fury, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson.

Following the presentation, Joss Whedon addressed the audience by saying, “”I have had a dream all my life and it was not this good.” …”This is The Avengers; a team is more than the sum of its parts — this cast is more than I could have ever hoped for … and I am going to blow it. I need your love; I need your support.”
