The Playlist are reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio is circling a new film, Farragut North, which could, if it all comes together, be written and directed by George Clooney. It’s been rumoured that Clooney and DiCaprio have had discussions surrounding the collaboration, and have even done a few read-through’s. Warner Bros. own the rights at this present time.

Farragut North will be based on Howard Dean primary run for Presidency which, according to Wikipedia, centres on a wunderkind press secretary, Stephen, who Leonardo DiCaprio would play, who has built a career that men twice his age would envy. During a tight presidential primary race, however, Stephen’s meteoric rise falls prey to the backroom politics of more seasoned operatives, and his one night stand with a teenage staffer proves to be more complicated than casual.

It sounds like a very interested and project, with two extremely talented icons. It would seem to me that Warner Bros. would be doing all they can to secure both Clooney as director, and DiCaprio as the male lead. It’d certainly be a great shame if this one slipped through the net.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this one.
