Colin Farrell has entered into talks to star in Luca Guadagnino’s World War II DC war film ‘Sgt Rock.’
The news comes hot on the heels of Daniel Craig’s departure from the movie to seek other opportunities. Farrell’s involvement would see him returning to the DC world after starring as the main villain in the highly popular series ‘The Penguin.’
Guadagnino is set to direct from a script by screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, who penned Guadagnino’s ‘Challengers and Queer.’ Farrell would take on the role of the tough-as-nails leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, the story focuses on a World War II soldier who first appeared in comics in 1959. His comic was one of DC’s longest-running books. Over the years, the story has proved popular in Hollywood, with both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis circling the role, which failed to get off the ground until James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios.
The movie is set to start production this summer in DC Studios’ production hub in England.
