One can only hope that lessons have been learned all round as the next installment in the seemingly inevitable Clash of the Titans franchise sets a release date.

Sadly too early to be affected by certain Mayan prophecies cinemas in March 2012 will rumble to the sound of Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton reprising their roles from Louis Leterrier’s 2010 film.

Jonathan Liebesman, director of Battle: Los Angeles which will open a year earlier in March 2011, will take on directing duties and at least one of the many things wrong with first film is being addressed – the film will be shot in 3D. Whether this will have any impact at all is obviously unknown at this time, but it’ll stop the Viewmaster visuals from distracting too much.

With so much wrong with the first film, and this sequel made possible by the unexpectedly huge box office returns, we can only hope that when Titans Will Wrath it’ll be a far more engaging film than its predecessor.

Coming Soon spake this first.
