It’s time to glance at the passing YA train once again as the second of Veronica Roth’s novels hurtles headlong to the big screen. Insurgent is coming, and these odd new posters below are here to prove it.
As well as the familiar triumvirate of Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet we get a good look at Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer, new to the ‘gent series.
Neil Burger’s adaptation of the first film may not have duplicated the success of a Hunger Games or a Twilight but there were some fine ideas and some very well shot sequences, and Woodley is magnetic on screen. When you add the legion of fans the books have you realise why Lionsgate are running with this one.
In the piece from EW Woodley hints at the inevitable darker, grittier tone of the new film
It’s much darker,…[and] you see inside of Tris’ mind a little bit more. Tris has a lot of dream sequences that haunt her throughout the film so I think all of those combined lead to a darker tone.
Theo James added,
It’s more adult. You maintain those elements of the original but it’s also a bit of a bigger and a darker film which I think it lends itself to just being more generally appealing.
So, no puppies and rainbows to look forward to then?
Here are the posters, which sort of make sense when you see them in motion (that gallery is below the posters – go nuts).
