The casting news is coming thick and fast on Tower Heist. No sooner do we hear that Tea Leoni has been added, than Casey Affleck is announced as coming on board as well.

Hot off shooting Joaquin Phoenix’s mock-shock-doc I’m Still Here and appearing in the controversial adaptation of Jim Thompson’s The Killer Inside Me, Affleck perhaps felt that something a little lighter was in order and that accordingly an Ocean’s 11/12/13 style caper might fit the bill.

According to THR, Affleck will play a straight(er)-laced character than Stiller’s, keen to turn his friend in rather than be complicit in the planned revenge on Alan Alda’s corporate fraudster.

Ferris Bueller himself, Matthew Broderick, has also joined the cast as a Wall Street trader who decides to join Stiller’s crew and Judd Hirsch (Independence Day, Ordinary People) will appear as well, though in an as-yet unidentified role.

This cast is starting to get a little crowded now, hopefully they will get cracking with shooting soon and we can see how the film turns out. As always, more news as we get it.

Dave Roper
Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
