Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston are in negotiations to join Universal’s action-thriller Drive, an adaptation of James Sallis’ novel of the same name.

Nicolas Winding Refn is set as director, while Ryan Gosling has already signed on to play the lead role.

Synopsis: Drive centers on a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. When a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con’s girlfriend (Mulligan) in his car.

Drive will be a co-production between Bold Films, OddLot Entertainment and Marc Platt Productions. Filming is scheduled to commence in Los Angeles next month.
