Bryce Dallas Howard is leaving the big old dinosaurs behind and dipping her toe into the Elton John biopic, Rocketman.

Howard has been cast to play the young Elton’s mother, Shiela Eileen, in the upcoming picture that focuses on John’s early music career. Taron Egerton will play Elton, Jamie Bell is Bernie Taupin and Richard Madden is set as music manager John Reid.

Dexter Fletcher will take the helm on the biopic on one of the music world’s most iconic artists. Fletcher will also reunite with his Eddie the Eagle star, Taron Egerton who is set to play the Rocketman himself. To make the film that little more authentic, Egerton will perform Elton’s songs himself after wowing sources with his almost identical vocal talents.

The film covers the singer/pianist’s growth from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.

Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films will produce, along with John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.

The eldest daughter of Ron Howard, she was most recently seen reprising her role as Claire Dearing in J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The film has hit just over $1 billion dollars at the box office. She is also set to return to the dino franchise for Jurassic World 3 which is set for a release in 2021. She was also seen as Matthew McConaughey’s wife in the drama Gold and plays herself in an episode of Arrested Development this year.
