The LoraxFollowing on from the great new TV spot we saw for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax last night, one of the many Super Bowl spots we were treated to, we’ve got a fantastic new clip to share with you from the film, full of cute and cuddly, furry little animals,

The film is directed by Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda, who worked together back on Illumination Entertainment’s brilliant first film, Despicable Me. They’ve brought in a great cast to lend their voices for the film, with Danny DeVito voicing The Lorax himself, along with Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Ed Helms, Betty White, and Rob Riggle.

“The 3D-CGI feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope.  The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.  To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler.  Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic young boy who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Ashley, the girl of Ted’s dreams.  Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is the third feature created by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Hop).”

In this new clip, entitled ‘Animal Surprise’, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, we get to see the Once-ler waking up to find the Lorax in his bed, along with his home full of adorable animals dotted all over the place. The little one sleeping between the covers of a book is of course indescribably cute.

If you’re reading this out in the US, then you’ll be happy to know that Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax will be coming to you very soon on 2nd March. Here in the UK, we’ve got a little longer to wait, with the film hitting the big screen later this year on 27th July. Still a while to go yet for this side of the Atlantic, but everything we’ve seen so far has been very promising, and it looks like it’ll be well worth the wait.

Without wanting to jump the gun, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is a contender in the Best Animated Feature category at the Academy Awards this time next year. Time will tell. For now, enjoy this great new clip.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
