Rian Johnson’s is reteaming this year with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, star of his debut film, Brick, in a move that will see him delve into the action/sci-fi genre with Looper.

Written and directed by Johnson, the film will also star Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Garrett Dillahunt, and Jeff Daniels, and if this wasn’t on your radar already, it’s time to put it on now.

We got our first look at Bruce Willis last year, and now it’s time for our first look at the brilliant Gordon-Levitt.

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.”

After a new image surfaced in January of Johnson on the set sitting in an intriguing device/machine, we then heard that Gordon-Levitt will be donning prosthetics in order to make him look more like a younger version of Bruce Willis, and this is our first look at the actor with the subtle adjustments.

And, as expected and as always, he looks awesome. I can’t wait for this to hit the big screen.

Looper will be released in the UK and US on 28th September, which is the very same date we’ll be seeing Gordon-Levitt another of his upcoming films, Premium Rush – the last weekend of September is going to be brilliant. As usual with these great new images, you can click to enlarge.
