Putting Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg together is always a good idea. Adding in a script by The Coen Brothers, along with Matt Charman,  makes the forthcoming Bridge of Spies the very definition of a Must See film.

Hanks is plying his American Everyman trade once again as a lawyer thrown by an uncertain CIA into the middle of an international crisis involving a captured US pilot. The first look trailer below gives us a series of moments typical of Spielberg’s oeuvre, with high drama and domestic upheaval aplenty.

“Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Screenwriters Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen have woven this remarkable experience in Donovan’s life into a story inspired by true events that captures the essence of a man who risked everything and vividly brings his personal journey to life.
