Veteran actor, Brendan Gleeson has joined the likes of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga on the cast of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’

Gleeson’s character details have not been made public.

Lady Gaga announced on social media recently that she’s joining the cast of the movie, which takes the unprecedented route of a musical, with the Oscar winner buzzed to play the Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. Joaquin Phoenix is also returning as Arthur Fleck.

Phillips has been co-writing the script with ‘Joker’ co-writer Scott Silver.

Filming is due to commence in December, with a release date of October 4, 2024.

Phoenix earned the best actor Oscar for the role of Arthur Fleck, a troubled man who evolves into a folk villain-type figure by the end of the story. ‘Joker’ earned $1.07 billion globally.

Gleeson is currently generating Oscar buzz for his work in Martin McDonagh’s ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ in which he reunites with Colin Farrell after appearing in ‘In Bruges’ together. Gleeson recently appeared as Donald Trump in ‘The Comey Rule’ and also starred in ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth.’
