Brendan Fraser has been cast in DC’s upcoming Batgirl movie from directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The Mummy star will take on the role of the villainous Firefly, a sociopath with a passion for pyrotechnics.

Fraser joins In the Heights star Leslie Grace was recently cast in the role of Barbara Gordon. J.K Simmons is also on board to reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon. Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the project. Ploy details are currently under wraps. ‘Bumblebee’s Christina Hodson is writing the screenplay.

The actor currently voices a character on the HBO Max superhero TV show Doom Patrol. Fraser is going through a career revival having landed roles in Darren Aronofsky’s next film The Whale and Martin Scorsese Killers of the Flower Moon.

Production is due to commence in November. A release date has yet to be scheduled but it will be skipping a theatrical release to make its debut on HBO Max.
