Ryan Gosling is set to join Margot Robbie in the Warner Bros. and Mattel film ‘Barbie.’
Two-time Oscar-nominee Gosling will take on the role of Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s Barbie in the Greta Gerwig directed feature. Co-written by Gerwig and Marriage Story’s Noah Baumbach, plot details are currently under wraps.
Barbie’s big-screen solo debut has been gestating for several years; Gosling had previously been offered the role but had turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. With the production pushed back, Gosling now has time on his hands to board the project.

Robbie also serves as a producer on the movie under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner, which produced last year’s ‘Promising Young Woman.’ Other Producers also include LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara; Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and Ynon Kreiz; and David Heyman.
Ken made his big-screen debut Toy Story 3 and was voiced by Michael Keaton.
Gosling recently finished up production on the Russo Brother’s ‘The Gray Man’ in which he will star opposite Chris Evans and ‘Bridgertons’ Rege-Jean Page. He was last seen in the role of the legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong in ‘First Man,’ after playing opposite Harrison Ford in “Blade Runner 2049.”
The film is set to start Production at Leavesden Studios in London and is set for a 2023 release.
