Marvel haven’t issued a press release just yet, but a new report reveals that they have chosen Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter to play Jessica Jones in the upcoming 13-part series on Netflix. It’s believed it will follow Daredevil sometime next year, but a premiere date has not been revealed by the online streaming service.

Five actresses were testing for the role, and it apparently ended up coming down to Ritter and Teresa Palmer. Both did reads with The Following Mike Colter, and he appears to be the top choice for Luke Cage.

Cage will show up in six episodes of Jessica Jones before starring in his own series. Iron Fist then follows.

Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight) will serve as a writer and showrunner on the series which focuses on a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. This leads to Jessica Jones hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.

Ritter is an interesting choice for this character, and ideal for a quirky character like Jessica Jones.
