Arriving in theatres this summer, Woody Allen’s latest romantic comedy, Blue Jasmine, sees the writer-director assembling another fantastic ensemble, following the likes of Midnight in Paris and To Rome with Love in the past two years.
Cate Blanchett takes the lead for the summer film, and we got a great first look at her alongside Sally Hawkins early last month. And now Sony Classics have debuted another image of Blanchett, this time a little more sun-drenched and with a greater sense of romance.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but here’s what we know to give you an idea of what to expect from Allen’s latest:
“It is the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.”
Starring alongside Blanchett and Hawkins in the brilliant ensemble will be Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale, Peter Sarsgaard, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, and Michael Stuhlberg.
Allen is once more directing from his own script. And past collaborators Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum (Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) are returning to produce alongside Edward Walson (City Island).
Blue Jasmine will be starting its limited release in New York and Los Angeles on July 26th, with Sony Classics expanding across the US in successive weeks. Still no word yet on a UK release date, but I’m hoping that it will be arriving on our shores in the summer as well.
