The second of three prequel shorts created for Blade Runner 2049 and commissioned by its director Denis Villeneuve has arrived via Itunes Trailers.

ICYMI: The first of three prequel shorts for Blade Runner 2049

Directed by Luke Scott and coming in at just under 6 minutes, the second instalment is set just a year previous to Villeneuve’s sequel, titled 2048: Nowhere to Run – the focus this time is on Dave Bautista’s character Spanner, a lonely man who has befriended what looks like a homeless girl and her mother in a grimy and dark Los Angeles. When the young woman are threatened by a group of men, Bautista goes full metal mental in order the protect them.

Blade Runner 2049 Synopsis

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Produced by Ridley Scott, the film stars Ryan Gosling (La La Land), Harrison Ford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Ana de Armas (Knock Knock), Robin Wright (Wonder Woman), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2), Lennie James (The Walking Dead) and Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), as well as Edward James Olmos, who reprises his role as Gaff from the original.
