DC and Marvel
Two rivalling factions in the comic book market, DC and Marvel have been a presence in the film industry for many years now, resulting in Lego tapping into their market and appealing to a whole new dynamic. With a staggering number of characters to get their hands on, Lego found the perfect properties to unleash a whole new world of fun toys and games.
Using Batman as the tentpole, the DC side of things was dubbed the DC Universe, spawning two Lego Batman games and in the main giving us various villain sets from the Dark Knight’s history. With the Batcave and different villain showdowns the focal point, Lego only really delved into other characters with a slim offering of Superman-based goods.
Marvel, on the other hand, boasts a large collection of varying heroes with their own building sets. With Spider-Man, Iron Man and, of course, The Avengers, all receiving their own specific Lego treatment, the range of products on offer slightly ousts that of the DC variety.
