Perfect Bank Holiday viewing is coming your way this August as director Timur Bekmambetov brings the story of Ben-Hur back to the big screen.

This retelling of the tale has its roots in the Lew Wallace novel which gave the 1959 film adaptation its foundation. In many ways Bekmambetov’s film has to live up to that version (and its rightly famous chariot chase), and yet exist in a space all its own.

Casting Jack Huston, Morgan Freeman, Toby Kebbell and Rodrigo Santoro is enough to guarantee a certain calibre of performance, and all eyes will be on how the director has brought this old world to life.

There’s a new TV spot which you can see below, and today Paramount have released the obligatory character posters, which look very fancy.
