Entertainment Weekly has revealed four covers for this week’s issue featuring the cast of Suicide Squad. The highlight here is without a doubt seeing The Joker and Harley Quinn together, though each of the characters highlighted here look pretty damn amazing.
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice proving to be pretty divisive (and not quite the $1 billion hit Warner Bros. were hoping for), the pressure is now on this DC Comics adaptation to deliver, and it turns out that director David Ayer is well aware of that fact.
“Two years ago Suicide Squad was a tertiary [DC property]. No one knew anything about it. It was a cool little playground, and I was going to go make my movie,” the filmmaker explained to Entertainment Weekly. “Now it’s like the hype bus. All of the attention has swung onto it, and it has to carry a lot more weight than it was ever intended to. I think it can sustain it. But it’s a lot of pressure. You definitely feel the pressure.”
Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck, Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 5th, 2016. Click through the gallery below to see the new covers.
