I was recently asked by Sony if I wanted to review Bad Boys on Blu-ray and as a fan of the movie from way back when, it took me about a second to reply saying ‘yes please!’

If you’re not familiar with the movie, Bad Boys sees Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as two Miami narcotics cops who are put in charge of finding out who stole 0 worth of dope from the Miami police station! Tea Leoni also appears as the one and only witness and Smith and Lawrence have to jump through various comedy hoops in order to convince her that she should stay and help them.

This movie is action packed to the brim, and so it should be as it’s directed by the action movie king himself, Michael Bay and produced by action producing legends Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson.

Amazon Synopsis: Slick to a fault, this glossy action flick takes place in sunny Florida, where Martin Lawrence and Will Smith play two cops–one married with kids, the other a swinging bachelor. The two are forced to trade places to foil criminal mastermind Fouchet (Tchéky Karyo) who has stolen $100 million worth of heroin from a police lockup. Violent, illogical and filled with wall-to-wall profanity, Bad Boys was the last film produced by the hit-making team of Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer before Simpson’s untimely death and marked the directorial debut of Michael Bay who followed up with The Rock. Bad Boys will be of interest to action buffs and fans of Téa Leoni, who makes one of her early screen appearances in the central supporting role. –Jeff Shannon

The conversion from it’s standard format to blu ray is quite simply awesome, with the picture quality up there with some of the best I’ve seen. The same could be said of the sound with my amp turned up to 11, the vocals crisp and the score by Mark Mancina ringing through perfectly throughout. Not to mention the multitude of sound effects used in  the movie with the the action never stopping.

I vowed that I’d never re-buy any of my DVDs onto Blu-ray but now that I’ve seen this conversion, I might have to rethink! Bad Boys will always hold a special place in my heart. It was one of the first DVDs I bought and I love everything about it from the soundtrack to the awesome actions sequences. Actually, I find Tea Leoni annoying in it but you can’t have everything.

If you’ve not seen Bad Boys before and have a blu ray player, then the decision is simple, click the link below and buy the movie now and I know you’ll love it!
