Adam McKay is the writer and director responsible for movies like Anchorman and Step Brothers, and when Edgar Wright decided to depart Ant-Man, he was offered the chance to direct the movie by Marvel Studios.

The tight schedule meant that he refused, but McKay did team with Paul Rudd (who plays the titular hero in the 2015 movie) to rewrite the screenplay adding more action and jokes according to some recent reports.

Well, in a new interview, McKay reveals that there has since been talks about him directing a Marvel movie!

“I had such a great time working with them,” the filmmaker said of his time rewriting Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man for Marvel Studios earlier this year. He adds, “We’re kicking around ideas. But yeah, maybe I would take on one of the characters. We haven’t locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on.”

McKay’s next project is The Big Short, an adaptation of a critically acclaimed book by Michael Lewis which explores the housing and credit bubble of the 2000s, so where this Marvel movie could factor in isn’t clear.

Which character from the Marvel Universe would you like to see Adam McKay bring to the big screen?
