It would appear that pre-MCU Spider-Man characters are making a comeback to the franchise with Alfred Molina set to reprise his role of Doctor Octopus/Otto Octavius in the third instalment.

Molina isn’t the only familiar face said to be returning, previous Peter Parkers Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire, are in negotiations to return alongside Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone.

They would join the already announced Benedict Cumberbatch who will be reprising his role of the New York-based Doctor Strange, it is thought that he will take on the mentorship of young Peter Parker now that Tony Stark has passed on and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Jamie Foxx is also returning as Electro. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

The third ‘Spider-Man’ movie is currently in production in Atlanta with director Jon Watts. Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori are all expected to reprise their roles from the previous two films

Molina starred in Sam Raimi’s 2004 sequel ‘Spider-Man 2’ as Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist turned eight-limbed villain who pushed Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to the limits.

The film is set for a release on December 17th 2021.
