Liam Neeson returns to the big screen this weekend in Taken 2, the sequel to the immensely successful 2008 original that has become something of a cult classic since its release.

Once more penned by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, the film has made its way into UK theatres today – you can read our review here – and will be released in the US tomorrow, and we’ve got eight new images from the film to share, including one of Neeson on set with director Olivier Megaton (Colombiana).

“Bryan Mills is the retired CIA agent with a “particular set of skills” who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from kidnappers. When the father of one of the villains Bryan killed swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape. Bryan then employs his unique tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers, one by one.”

Neeson reprises his role alongside the excellent Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen, with Rade Serbedzija starring as the antagonist.

We recently got to sit down with Neeson to talk about the film, as well as a little about the original and an unrelated film – spoiler alert, it’s the Batman trilogy – and I’d definitely recommend reading that interview here.

Taken 2 is in cinemas in the UK right now, and will be released in the US tomorrow, Friday 5th October. For now, here are the new images to give you a little tease of what to expect, all of which you can click to enlarge. It looks like the odds are pretty good that the many fans of the original will love the sequel.
