Signalling the final two month countdown until the festival gets underway, three official posters have been unveiled for this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival, and they paint a colourful picture of a festival looking to reclaim its fledging mojo.

Each picturing a hand selecting an individual film reel, these posters look to re-establish the festival’s spirit and purpose: to introduce audiences to a wide range of films from around the world, regardless of their budgets, themes or ideas.

Now in its 66th year, and headed up by a new artistic director in the form of scholar and writer Chris Fujiwara, the Edinburgh International Film Festival looks to be making amendments for last year’s less-than-stellar instalment – not least with last month’s announcement that the newest co-production between Disney and Pixar, the mythical Brave, will close the festival on June 30.

Further announcements are likely to peter out over the next month, before the official programme announcement is made to press on May 30. The 66th Edinburgh International Film Festival will run from June 20 – July 1 at various venues across the city of Edinburgh.
