3. Jake Gyllenhaal

DD2

Jake Gyllenhaal played the Prince of Persia and a character called Loki in the superb Prisoners, but that’s about as close as he’s come to portraying a superhero (although he at one point did nearly replace Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man). If any role could finally be the one to tempt him to don spandex, it’s Daredevil. While Gyllenhaal currently seems to be focused on his big screen career, he would be far from the first actor to make the transition to television while also doing the odd movie role; recent examples include Ray Donovan’s Liev Schreiber and Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen.  Gyllenhaal would bring a lot to a character as brooding and often dark as Daredevil. Should they decide to incorporate some of the humour seen in Mark Waid’s Eisner Award series, the actor would have a chance to show us a very different side to him than normal.
