We’ve run a few of these stories before, with iconic movie props or locations going under the hammer and while the houses used in Ferris Bueller or Home Alone are all well and good what you really want is a one-off, something to turn heads.
This little auction the BBC are reporting on is for the only working car from the classic 1968 movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it’s looking in fine form forty three years on. Expected to fetch around $2m in Los Angeles today, the car is one of the most instantly recognisable movie vehicles, so if the millions of us who loved the film threw in a quid each we’d easily be able to work out some sort of rota.
