Ever wanted to see Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny saving the planet, well now’s your chance as the first trailer for Rise of the Guardians debuts online. The movie previously had the title The Guardians of Childhood but has changed to Rise of the Guardians and as you’ll see from the trailer, it has some rather big named stars attached playing the lead roles and many seasonal stars fighting to save the kids!

Rise of the Guardians, formerly titled The Guardians of Childhood, is an upcoming 3D computer-animated epic adventure film which will be based on William Joyce’s The Guardians of Childhood book series. It will be produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures, and is set for release on November 21, 2012. The film stars Chris Pine, Isla Fisher, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law and Dakota Goyo. It is being directed by Peter Ramsey and co-directed by Joyce, the creator of Rolie Polie Olie and Disney’s 2007 film Meet the Robinsons. The film is being described as “a contemporary fairytale based on existing fairytale characters”.

The movie comes from the same people who brought us How to Train Your Dragon and just as I loved the look of that movie (and everything about it for that matter), I really like the look of this. The movie has a voice cast which includes Alec Baldwin as Santa Claus, Hugh Jackman as the Easter Bunny, Isla Fisher as the Tooth Fairy and Chris Pine as Jack Frost. Jude Law also stars as Pitch.
