20th Century Fox have triumphed over rival studios Paramount, Sony, Universal and Summit Entertainment and secured the rights to the feature-film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The synopsis for the film is as follows:

When President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, Lincoln’s passion is fueled to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.

Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov, his first film since 2008’s Wanted. Tim Burton is on board as executive producer. Production on the 3D adaptation will commence in March 2011.
