Coming off the back of some rave reviews after being screened in the US and UK over the last few days, Sam Mendes awards contender ‘1917’ is to receive an exclusive charity gala screening.

Film fans will get the chance to see the war epic weeks before general release. 100% of the cost of tickets to this special event will be donated to The Film and TV Charity, an organisation supporting the creative talent behind the UK’s brilliant film and television industry.

The film is set at the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— Blake’s own brother among them.

Directed by Sam Mendes, who wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Showtime’s Penny Dreadful). The film stars Dean-Charles Chapman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden and Andrew Scott alongside George MacKay.
