The Dark Knight Rises is officially on wide release today, and having caught a screening earlier this week, I can assure you that it is mind-blowingly incredible.
If you loved the first two films in Christopher and Jonathan Nolan’s trilogy, you have an immense cinematic experience in store for you.

With the film making its way into theatres today, we’ve got one last look at the film with Warner Bros. releasing a great new set of hi-res images, focusing largely on Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle / Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake.

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.”
Christopher Nolan returns behind the camera for one last outing in his and brother Jonathan Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy, directing from a script they co-wrote together, based on a story by the director and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight).
Christian Bale is of course back alongside Nolan one more time as the Dark Knight, and is supported by the absolutely immense cast headed up by Tom Hardy, Hathaway, Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Marion Cotillard.
The Dark Knight Rises is in cinemas now, and I can’t recommend enough how much you need to go see it, as soon as humanly possible – I say as soon as possible, because there’s a very good chance you’ll want to see it again on the big screen. I’m already looking forward to seeing it a second, third, and fourth time. At least.
