White House Down promises to see director Roland Emmerich return to the explosive action blockbuster territory with which we’re all familiar from him. And with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx leading the cast, it’s pretty much a no-brainer that this is going to be awesome.
We’ve already seen two awesome trailers for the movie in recent months. And with its release date fast approaching, Sony have given us an awesome new extended trailer to help dip a toe in the water.
In Columbia Pictures’ White House Down, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.
Tatum and Foxx are joined by a brilliant cast, led by Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Jake Weber, Lance Reddick, and Joey King.
Emmerich is at the helm, directing from a script penned by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man).
The similarly-themed Olympus Has Fallen opened to big numbers in the spring, and I have a feeling that White House Down is going to be that much more of a success as a summer blockbuster.
White House Down will be released in the US on June 28th, and has its UK release date set for a little later on 6th September. Here’s the latest trailer to prove why this is a must-see movie of the season.
