It’s already been confirmed that Thor: Ragnarok will place the God of Thunder and The Hulk inside a gladiatorial arena, but director Taika Waititi has now confirmed that we’re heading to Sakaar. As fans of the comic books will already know, that’s the planet which becomes known as “Planet Hulk” after the Green Goliath lands there and attempts to conquer it.

“Sakaar was just an insane, far-off, futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters,” the filmmaker revealed in a recent interview with Total Film Magazine. Aliens from that planet also made an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy!

Waititi didn’t reveal much else about what we should expect from Thor: Ragnarok, but confirmed that the work of legendary artist Jack Kirby has influenced the visuals in a big way. “I was really excited when Kevin and the rest of Marvel jumped on board with the idea to use Kirby as a big influence in the design of the film. What’s really hard is staying authentic.”

Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be one of 2017’s most unique and exciting superhero movies, and that was evident based on some recent concept art released from the movie! With any luck, more on what the two heroes will be getting up to will be revealed soon.
