James Mangold James Mangold Back in the Saddle for The GunslingerDirector James Mangold is returning to familiar territory folloing his first foray in the romantic action adventure genre, with this summer’s Knight and Day – a film which was meet with less than favourable results, both critically and box office-wise (even more so considering the star wattage of leads, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz).

He’s strapping on that six-shooter and mounting up again for another western. Having received praise for his remake of 3:10 to Yuma, Mangold is now attached to direct The Gunslinger, a revenge thriller that Warners initially bought as a spec.

The script, by John Hlavin (erm…Underworld 4), is a modern-day western which revolves around an ex-Texas Ranger who sets out to avenge his brother’s murder by killing for men responsible.
