It’s taken us two years to get over the heartbreaking documentary Senna. Now,  just when we thought we were okay again, Asif Kapadia presents his latest production; Amy.

Focusing in on the life of the gifted musician Amy Winehouse, Kapadia has once again formed an intimate bond between his subject and viewer, making for a hugely upsetting piece of cinema. We sat down with the man himself to discuss what it was about Amy’s life that appealed to him so greatly, and if he too felt like he knew her after tackling this project. Finally we asked his thoughts and reaction after hearing that Winehouse’s father Mitch had distanced himself from this entire production.

Amy is released on July 3rd, and you can read our five star review of the film here.
