Ice hockey comedy Goon made waves in five years ago for being a film that no-one saw coming. Written by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg it focused on a minor league ice hockey team hiring a bouncer to become their enforcer, or tough guy. Sean William Scott was outstanding as the likable Doug ‘The Thug’ Glatt, and had fine support from Baruchel himself, Alison Pill and Liev Schreiber among others.

Jay Baruchel returns to make his feature directing debut with the sequel to the 2011 comedy, which he also wrote with Jesse Chabot. The cast also return along with Wyatt Russell and Elisha Cuthbert in new roles.

There’s a first look trailer for the film out today, giving us a good look at what the Halifax Highlanders are getting up to. New players, new fights and another chance to make us laugh at violence.

Before you dive headlong into the collection of new posters and trailer why not take a NSFW journey back in time for our chat with Seann Williams Scott for the original?

Now on with the good stuff. Just a word to keep an eye out for a UK release date, which currently we don’t have. So far only the Canadian release date of the 17th of March has been released, but the US and the UK shouldn’t be too far behind.

Now, on with the frozen carnage.
