Award
As we know from previous years, those who came out on top are far from guaranteed an Oscar, but this might at least give us a rough idea of where things will go from here. Boyhood was the big winner of the night, while Michael Keaton took away what many are calling a well deserved win for his Birdman role.
No one film seemed to dominate, something which is evident from the fact that awards were won in various categories by a number of different releases, with Big Eyes, The Theory of Everything, and more recognised.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 beating off competition from The LEGO Movie and Big Hero 6 is a surprise too!
On the TV front, Fargo topping True Detective has created a fair bit of discussion, while Kevin Spacey finally won for his House of Cards role. CW series Jane the Virgin getting nominated at the Golden Globes was considered a huge surprise by many too, so the fact that Gina Rodriguez won is a major accomplishment.
