Some movie posters just pass you by. Ten-minute Photoshop jobs using publicity stills are a dime-a-dozen right now, and evoke nothing but an emotional shrug of the shoulders. This one, however, pins you to the wall and screams FEAR ME! in your face. The posters for Alien Covenant have, thus far, been relatively happy to keep their distance. Using familiar imagery in the shadows with a few terse words (Run. Hide. And So On), they did not prepare us for this bastard child of Hieronymus Bosch and H. R. Giger.

Earlier this month we were out at SXSW where the audience were given a sneak peek of the new Alien film by the director himself. Wanting, in his words, ‘to scare the shit out of you’, what we were allowed to see was tense and exciting. Here’s our take on the footage we saw. The continual unfolding of the world before Scott’s 1979’s film may sometimes be a frustrating experience, however there’s no denying it’s an exciting past to plunder.

Scott has also talked about more Alien films. Saying he has another sequel already written and plans for many more, he seems determined to keep us in this world.

We can’t wait to dive back in, and this new movie poster is one that we’d be happy (scared) to have on our walls.

Here are the other, far tamer, offerings thus far.
