When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC later this month, it will have a later timeslot which fans of the show are hoping will bring the series more in line with the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. The fact that Ghost Rider (or at least a version of the character) is being added to the mix is a good sign of that, and we now have our first look at Robbie Reyes.

The Ghost Rider who appeared in the movies was of course Johnny Blaze, but Robbie is a relatively new character who actually drives a muscle car rather than a motorbike.

Gabriel Luna is playing him, and he actually looks like he’s been lifted straight out of the pages of the comics based on that costume. How his appearance will differ when he transforms remains to be seen, but Marvel has also released a found footage video showing his car speeding off, a sight we’ll get used to when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns!

“As always, we are going to put our own spin on the character,” executive producer Jed Whedon tells EW. “We are staying true to the comics in the places where we feel like it’s really important — we love the character’s family dynamic and the East L.A. kid in him.”

Adding a supernatural character like this to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to shake things up in a big way, though that’s no bad thing. Expect more to be revealed about Ghost Rider soon.
