World-War-Z-UK-PosterLed by the ever-brilliant Brad Pitt, World War Z promises to be one of the year’s best blockbusters.

Outside of the Resident Evil franchise, it’s the first big-budget zombie movie we’ve seen in some time. And having recently debuted an awesome new trailer last month, followed by a great IMAX poster, the anticipation is definitely on the rise for its summer release.

United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Starring alongside Pitt will be Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Lucy Aharish, Matthew Fox, Bryan Cranston, Abigail Hargrove, Sterling Jerins, and David Morse.

Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) is behind the camera, directing from a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom), based on the original novel by Max Brooks, with Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) doing re-writes for the re-shoots.

Paramount are reportedly eyeing the film as a potential franchise-starter, which could be developed into a new trilogy. Pitt is of course not known for being a man of sequels, and getting the chance to see him return for another two outings following World War Z definitely sounds awesome to me.

World War Z will be released in the UK and US on 21st June, and that’s a date that can’t come fast enough. Whilst we count down the days, here’s the latest TV spot to give you an idea of the epic scale we have coming our way with this zombie blockbuster.
