World of Warcraft: CataclysmSurprise surprise. The latest add-on/sequel/mega patch for the world’s biggest online game has managed to obliterate PC sales records.

According to internal figures from publisher Activision Blizzard, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has become “the fastest-selling PC game of all time.”

And while we’d usually be at least a little suspicious of early figures like this coming from in-house, we doubt the final official tally will argue differently.

While the release of each new flagpole PC game valiantly battles against the MMORG’s dominance, there’s simply no fighting the facts.

The latest expansion pack sold 3.3 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale.

And the previous holder it managed to beat? Why, 2008’s last WoW add-on pack, Wrather of the Lich King.
