The cast of 2017’s War of the Planet of the Apes is already starting to come together, with Woody Harrelson set to take on the role of a human villain called the Colonel.
How he’ll factor into the movie isn’t clear at this point, though based on how the previous instalment ended (2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), it’s likely that he’ll be leading the no doubt sinister group of humans who go to war with Caesar and his fellow Apes.
It was also recently revealed that Gabriel Chavarria has been cast, but it’s thought that he’ll have only a very minor role in the movie. Matt Reeves is returning to direct, while Mark Bomback is set to once again join him as War of the Planet of the Apes’ screenwriter.
Harrelson will soon be seen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and he of course received a great deal of critical acclaim for his role in season one of True Detective.
It’s going to be very exciting to see how the cast of this movie comes together. We know that Andy Serkis will reprise the role of Caesar, but whether Jason Clarke will return after appearing in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes remains to be seen. Fingers crossed though, eh?
