Bringing Woody Allen to the small screen for the first time in decades is a shrewd move on the part of Amazon. Though he did claim he regretted the decision to write and direct his first TV series the first clip from the show, now called Crisis in Six Scenes, appears to be vintage Allen.

Crisis-in-Six-scenes-logoThe six part series is set to land on Amazon’s service on the 30th of September and the first clip has been released for us all to enjoy.

Set in the 1960s Allen stars as Sidney Muntzinger, a writer whose work is sending people (his barber in particular) to sleep. The series will focus on a middle class family coping with the turbulent times for the country, and themselves.

Miley Cyrus, Elaine May, Rachel Brosnahan are among the cast, as is Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite jewel Michael Rapaport and David Harbour, recently seen in Netflix’s Stranger Things.
