Todd Haynes latest project, Wonderstruck, in which he gives a respectful nod to Silent cinema, has released a trailer ahead of its London Film Festival showing.

Adapted from the 2011 novel from Brian Selznick, the film premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and has been selected to screen as part of the London Film Festival’s JOURNEY strand and will receive its Gala screening on Thursday, October 5th with Todd Haynes in attendance.

Set in New York both in 1927 and 1977, the trailer takes us on a journey through black and white silent film following a young deaf girl, Rose’s adventure while running alongside Ben’s similar story in 1977.

The film’s cast includes Oakes Fegley, Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Millicent Simmonds.

A UK release date has yet to be set.

Based on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.
