The film industry in the UK is thriving, employing over 97,000 people, with billions spent on filmmaking in the UK each year. A key part of this success story has been the contribution of The National Lottery. Since 1994 The National Lottery has invested over £500 million into the British film industry – supporting production, talent development, education, protecting older films and making them accessible online.
In 2016, six National Lottery-funded films have been nominated for 11 BAFTAs – The Lobster, Brooklyn, 45 Years, The Survivalist, A Syrian Love Story and Second Coming. So, if you’ve ever played The National Lottery you should feel proud of the difference you are making to British film.
