Black Bear and LAIKA have unveiled the first full trailer for ‘Wildwood,’ offering a spectacular new look at the handcrafted fantasy adventure set in a mysterious wilderness just beyond Portland, Oregon.
Directed and produced by Travis Knight, ‘Wildwood’ promises to be one of LAIKA’s biggest and most visually ambitious productions yet, bringing an expansive world of talking animals, bandits, ancient powers and rival factions to life through the studio’s signature stop-motion artistry.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Colin Meloy, the film follows headstrong teenager Prue McKeel, whose life is turned upside down when her baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows and carried deep into the Impassable Wilderness, a hidden forest that exists just beyond the boundaries of the familiar world.
Determined to rescue him, Prue ventures into the forest with her loyal but hapless classmate Curtis Mehlberg. What begins as a straightforward rescue mission soon becomes an extraordinary journey into a sprawling wilderness filled with talking animals, dangerous bandits, ancient forces and competing factions fighting for control of Wildwood.
As Prue and Curtis travel deeper into the forest, Prue discovers that Wildwood is far more complicated than she could have imagined. The wilderness has its own histories, loyalties and secrets, and her connection to the mysterious world may run deeper than she realises.
The impressive voice cast is led by Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Prue McKeel and Jacob Tremblay as Curtis Mehlberg. They are joined by Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Academy Award nominee Richard E. Grant.
