The BBC has today unveiled the gripping first trailer for its highly anticipated new drama series ‘Wild Cherry,’ which will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Saturday, 15th November.
Following the success of ‘Mood’, BAFTA award-winning creator Nicôle Lecky returns with another unflinching and thought-provoking original — this time exploring the glossy façades and dark undercurrents of privilege, power, and social media. Lecky not only writes and creates the series but also stars and serves as executive producer.
Set in the seemingly idyllic community of Richford Lake, ‘Wild Cherry’ follows super-mum Juliet (Eve Best) and business mogul Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), whose worlds unravel when their teenage daughters, Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May), become embroiled in a shocking scandal at their elite private school. As toxic secrets and lies ripple through the town, the drama becomes a tense coming-of-age story — not just for the teens at its heart, but for the mothers too.
Described as “a coming-of-age drama for both mothers and daughters,” ‘Wild Cherry’ explores what happens when the perfect image cracks, and how “like mother, like daughter” can echo in devastating ways.
The six-part series is written and created by Nicôle Lecky and directed by Toby MacDonald (Extraordinary, Fifteen-Love).
